Tangier Island was discovered by Capt. John Smith in 1608. First settlers arrived from Cornwall, England in 1620. Approx 700 residents call Tangier Island "home," and still speak with heavy Cockney accents. Interesting walking tour - the whole island is only a mile wide and three miles long. Accessible only by boat or airplane. Golf carts, bicycles, and "shank's mare" are primary means of transportation. Becky's brother built the airport runway many years ago! Fantastic lunch at Mrs. Crockett's Seafood House.
1400 Depart Tangier, arrive Reedville 1530.
Friday evening - Open time. Walkabout in Kilmarnock. Stores are open along with art galleries, cute boutiques, bands playing on the street, and refreshments served in most of the businesses. Dinner on your own - there are many restaurants right in town.
Saturday, Oct 4
Sleep-in opportunity. Irvington Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Farmers' Market in Irvington, Virginia, 3 miles from Kilmarnock. There are over 100 vendors with arts, crafts, fresh veggies, food, cinnamon buns, lattes, etc.
Saturday afternoon - Multiple golf courses are available for those who are interested.

18:30 “Dining In” We can either have everyone select Choice A: filet mignon, chicken, or fish, or for the same price, everyone can have a Choice B: steak and seafood dinner It has to be everyone wanting either Choice A or Choice B - can't mix the two, so you either select individually under Choice A or everyone has the same menu. We’ll determine what the group prefers at a later date.
Sunday, Oct 5
Church services on your own.
11:00 Brunch at the Nunns' house before departures. Church schedules can be provided.
Cost
The cost for everything except motel and personal expenses comes to $215 per couple, or $107.50 single. These amounts will include the Tangier Cruise with huge lunch, the Dining In, incidental costs and all meals with the exception of dinner on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday
If you plan to attend, you must send a check made out to Albert N. Nunn, postmarked no later than August 25, 2008. This will provide a headcount for your hosts to make reservations for the cruise and Dining In. Your check will be your confirmation.
Confirmations, including reservations at the Holiday Inn Express, should be in hand NLT 30 days prior to the reunion dates, so that an accurate headcount can be taken, adequate reservations for the cruise and Dining In can be made, and planning can be finalized. The cutoff date is September 2, 2008. It would be nice to have all the checks for the $215/$107.50 by that time too. Don’t forget -- all Holiday Inn reservations should be made by no later than September 2 or rooms will be released. A reminder - a reservation doesn't incur a cost until checkout, so make reservations early. Maybe even today!
If you have time for a pre or post-trip, this is a great area of the state to visit. Head north to Fredericksburg, Quantico, or Washington, D.C. Or zip down I-64 and spend some time visiting Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. If you’re interested in seeing Civil War battlefields, this is the place! Visit the homes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and James Madison. If shopping is your thing, there are great places to shop in Washington or Richmond and outlets near Quantico or Williamsburg.
If you know anyone who may want to attend the reunion but did not receive this notice, please send their information (e-mail, preferably; snail mail address; telephone numbers) to Dan Yates. Thanks!!
