  • 1951: Navy Seabees begin construction of Cubi Point air strip.
  • 24 NOV 1992: The Amercian Flag is lowered and Cubi Point is turned over to the Phillipine governement.

    Construction started on the air strip.

  • 25 JUL 1956
    First landing at Cubi Strip

  • 1964
    NAS Cubi Point begins serving as the primary maintenance, repair and supply center for the 400 carrier based aircraft of the Seventh Fleet's carrier force during the Vietnam War.

  • 1979
    Military Bases Agreement of 1947 is amended to change the status of Cubi Point and other military installations in the Phillipines.

  • 15 JUN 1991
    Mount Pinatubu explodes and covers Cubi Point with volcanic ash.

  • 24 NOV 1992
    USS Belleau Wood is the last American War Ship to leave the Naval Base, ending 94 years of military presence in the Phillipines.
