  • PMTC, once the Naval Missile Center, was established in 1946 to provide the Navy with the extensive open-ocean T&E capabilities required to support new Fleet systems. PMTC was an integral part of the T&E programs for most of the Navy's air-launched weapons for over four-and-a-half decades; Point Mugu developed the range instrumentation, telemetry, and threat-simulation capabilities to support the Navy's most sophisticated sea-range complex.
