The Skyhawk formation took off from the Ohakea, New Zealand Air Force Base at 0500 hours local, climbed to 25,000 feet and flew east until at 0530 hours the sun rose. Here the flight was approximately 100 nautical miles feet wet off the East Coast of New Zealand.
